The Illusion Of Life

I'm deep into reading the classic Animation bible "The Illusion Of Life". So far it's not exactly what I expected. The writing is good, but so far it's less about the art of animation and more about the history and the people involved. I think the biggest thing I'm getting out of it so far is that animation is a lot of things. It's art, it's acting, it's staging, and a lot of those things come from your gut. Meaning, that a lot of your choices come from your instincts about what is entertaining and what works best to convey your story. Or at least that's the impression I'm getting. I also get the impression that there is a ton of planning and experimenting that goes into this work.

Okay, just a few thoughts for today. School starts in 6 days. Wish me luck.
